What kind of Affect does this have on the Environment?

This issue is quite broad, based largely on the different types of plants and animals present in our world. Here we will list some major problems to the environment associated with water pollution.
  1. Pesticides can hurt fish by causing diseases and damaging reproductive systems, generally killing or crippling populations
  2. Oxygen Depletion Pollution, mentioned before, as well as Nutrient Pollution can also kill fish by asphyxiating or poisoning them
  3. Oil can damage fish and marine mammals bodies, causing deadly mutations in fish and destroying the skin of mammals.
  4. Plastic ingested by marine animals can often stay in their stomach's for long times. These ingested plastics may be mistaken by the endocrine system for the hormone estradiol, causing hormone imbalances in their bodies. Studies have found these plastics in the stomachs of Black-Footed Albatrosses and Sea Turtles.07deadfish.jpg
  5. Thermal pollution also poses a problem to many fish. As Global Warming and the discharge of pollutants at a different temperature into the water affects the temperature of the water, animals that are not accustomed to the sudden change in water will die. This primarily kills coral and causes other marine life to relocate.

  7. Another type of "less prevalent" affect is the radioactive waste dumped into the ocean affecting the marine life's genome, causing mutations. This is generally not as substantial as other types of affects.
  8. As humans increasing utilize underwater drills, large ocean liners, and other forms that produce large noises, marine life is also affected. The loud sounds stress out the marine life, and stress causes them to exhibit such symptoms as sickness, not mating, and not eating.
